Dr. Koltuska-Haskinʼs Musical Biography
Dr. Barbara Koltuska-Haskin has many years of musical education. She started private piano lessons at the age of nine and started private voice lessons at the age of sixteen. Two years later, she passed all the necessary competitive entry exams and became a full-time student at the School of Music in Warsaw, Poland, from which she received a diploma in classical solo singing. In the US, she continued private voice lessons with the highly regarded voice teacher Jeanne Grealish. From 2000 to 2012, Dr. Koltuska-Haskin was a cantor at the Prince of Peace Church and occasionally sang in fundraising events for nonprofit organizations.
In 2003, Dr. Koltuska-Haskin recorded a CD of classical music titled Old Masters’ Love Songs. Because of her busy private practice, she did not have time to continue working on it to bring it to production until 2007. She recorded it for herself and her friends and “to remember, when I am old, that I had a voice.” Her friends loved it, and friends of friends started asking for it as well. On the advice of the producer of her CD, John Wagner from Wagner Recording Studios, she placed it on CDbaby to make it more widely available. Her CD can also be downloaded from YouTube. She still occasionally sings masses and at special events for friends and family.
Dr. Koltuska-Haskin believes that her love for classical music and many years of musical education made her a better and more compassionate provider for her patients.
